Every year I find that along with many other Holiday traditions, the one thing that helps me really get into the Christmas spirit is watching my favorite movies about this time of year.
It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen them, or the fact that I know most of them word for word…to me, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without them.
Here is my list of 12 Days of Christmas Movies you should make time to watch:
This movie makes me sob every single time I watch it. And although there are parts of it that are extremely silly it doesn’t matter because the heartfelt moments make up for the dumb ones ten fold. Maybe it’s just the hopeless romantic in me, but this movie made me love the world just a little bit more. 🙂
“Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color!?” It just would not be Christmas without watching this movie at least twice…it just would not.
3. Little Women
Not really sure how this one ended up being in my Christmas movie repertoire, but now it’s a staple. The movie begins at Christmas time and that’s probably part of it, but I also think the whole family values and togetherness vibe is another reason I love to watch it this time of year.
4. The Holiday
So this is a total formulaic Rom-Com….and I’m not even that crazy about Cameron Diaz, but this movie still has it’s endearing qualities and moments. Plus, Jude Law… enough said.
This movie is awesome on so many levels and has a handful of my favorite actors in it as well. I like it because rather than making a family Christmas at home seem all phony and perfect like so many of them do, it shows the beauty in awkward and tense family moments…and how they usually bring everyone closer together.
An absolute classic and a must watch.
I absolutely adored this book as a child and the movie REALLY brings it to life. I like this movie especially because it conveys a magical feeling to everyone who watches it, adults and children alike…and that doesn’t happen very often.
Another classic. And of course, Jim Carrey really brings so much to this film with his antics.
This is another book I loved as a child. I’m not terribly crazy about the movie adaptation, but it’s still a Holiday staple and I watch it as least once each season.
To this day I think my love for snowmen is firmly rooted to this movie. Love to sing along with it each year.
Would it even be Christmas if this movie didn’t play at least once? I LOVE all things Peanuts…and A Charlie Brown Christmas is my fave!
Yes, I’m a classic gal, and Rudolph and his red nose round out my list this time. I love all the little characters in this movie and have since I was a girl!
What about you? Is there a Holiday movie you simply cannot live without?
