It’s January 4th, 2015 and after a very long holiday break…I’m here again, my fingers on the keyboard.
So many thoughts rushed through my mind in the last days of 2014, the main ones involved me beating myself up for not meeting all the goals I set for myself and Jackson over the last 12 months.
The day after Christmas I went out for drinks with some friends and ran into an acquaintance I see on Facebook more often than in real life. She said something to me that night that really stuck.
She told me she had just recently separated from her husband, and that 2015 would be the year to love herself and find out who she is. She told me she intended to travel a lot more this year with her children, and that I had inspired her to do so.
I inspired her to do so.
And there I was feeling bummed, thinking I hadn’t done enough…and really I’d given someone else the desire to try something new for themselves.
So yeah…no more self pity. 2014 was awesome! Honestly, we did so much. And my hope is to go above and beyond all this for 2015.
Here’s a look back on what we did in the past year:
We visited a bunch of Texas State Parks. (<– this link contains a list of posts for each park)
Jackson went surfing for the very first time.
He also got to touch a baby alligator!
I traveled to the Chicagoland area…and crossed a new state off my list, Michigan!
We took our annual Bluebonnet Photos.
I turned 30!
Jackson turned 7!
We took a crazy roadtrip across Texas and I saw the Cadillac Ranch (among other things!).
We saw the Fall foliage at Lost Maples. (post coming soon)
We got into the Holiday spirit at the Zoo Lights.
Looking at this list, I have no idea why I was being so hard on myself. I am also that much more inspired to see what things are in store for this year.
2015, here we come!
