Can you believe it’s December already? I know I can’t!
With Christmas just weeks away it’s time to Deck the Halls and make things merry…and there is no better way to kick off the Holiday Season than to go out and purchase the Christmas tree.
And while you’re at it, why not make a whole day of it and create memories that will last for years to come?
Dewberry Farm makes all this possible with just a short drive outside the Houston area.
Once at the farm, your family can take a hayride or the Dewville Express Train ($3 per ride) out to the Christmas Tree patch.
Dewberry Farm has a large selection of Christmas available for cutting and will be open Thursday – Sunday now through December 16th (no activities on the farm Thursday or Friday, check calendar for hours).
The varieties of Christmas Trees for sale this year are Leyland Cypress, Murray Crypress, Carolina Sapphire, and Arizona Blue Ice. This year there are no Virginia Pines due to an insect infestation and no Fraser Firs from North Carolina either.
If your family has allergy issues, the Leyland Cypress and Murray Cypress may be your best choice as they produce no pollen. The also do not drop needles like some varieties and they will remain fresh longer than other varieties if kept in water.
Once your find your perfect tree, your family can grab a saw and cut it down. Farm workers will then help you load it onto a trailer to be taken to the main building for tree processing.
When your tree is processed it will be shaken to remove loose needles and baled to make it easier to load onto your vehicle.
Trees are priced according to their size and typically range anywhere from $45 – $200. The farm also has fresh wreaths and swags available for sale in the wreath building.
A day at Dewberry wouldn’t be complete without some good old fashioned fun so it’s helpful that with every tree purchase customers receive free activity tokens to use on fun activities around the farm.
$25 to $50 tree purchases get 6 activity tokens, $51 to $75 trees receive 9 tokens, and more than $75 receive 12 activity tokens.
Tokens can be used for things like Slide Mountain, Gemstone Mining, the Jumping Pillows and more!
The Holiday magic continues with a visit to see Old St. Nick himself! Photos with Santa are available for a small fee and you can either choose to use your own camera, or let Dewberry use theirs and provide you with a print (for an additional fee).
Dewberry Farm is a great place to create Holiday traditions with your family so if you’re looking for the perfect tree, or just a day of fun make plans to visit this weekend.
